Our family-owned vineyard is nestled in the foothills of Adams Gully, an area steeped in gold mining history to the south of Bannockburn.

Located on a stunning north-facing slope overlooking the Cromwell basin, its clay soils, hot summers and cool autumns combine to create the ideal setting for ripening our grapes and producing fruit-driven small-batch Central Otago wines.

The 7th Heaven Vineyard is 1.5 hectares planted with approximately 8000 vines The majority are pinot noir (a mix of clones 777, Abel and 115) and with a smattering of viognier.

Our Story

We didn’t even drink Pinot Noir before we started making it!

Our wine-growing journey started in 2013 when we fell in love with a piece of land in the foothills of Adams Gully out the back of Bannockburn.  It was the perfect place to build a home for our family but it also came with a derelict 1.5ha vineyard.

Most people wouldn’t have wanted to save it, but Michael is a second-generation orchardist who loves a horticultural challenge.

We are still learning but we are proud of our wines. and enjoy sharing them just as much as the fruit that we grow in the orchard.

Winemaking

Working alongside winemaker Debra Cruickshank of Tannacrieff Wines, we produce single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Pinot Port, a Pinot Rosé and a Blanc de Noir, all produced from 100% pinot noir grapes.

If conditions are favourable for ripening we also produce a very limited release of our Mad Hatter’s Viognier.

The Méthode Traditionelle masters at No1 Family Estate work their magic to our base wine to create our 100% Pinot Vintage Brut Méthode Traditionelle (Sparkling Wine).
